Our Curriculum

Curriculum

We believe children learn best when given opportunities to play and explore in a safe environment, when they are supported by highly trained, professional teaching staff, and when each child is viewed as an individual who is given learning opportunities that help them meet their specific developmental needs. As such, our classrooms are welcoming, warm places that provide daily opportunities for hands-on, open-ended learning experiences.

Facilities

Our unique outdoor classroom, The J. William Warehime Nature Center, allows children to grow and tend their own gardens, study nature, and take the joy of learning into the outdoors. Additionally, our multipurpose room allows for gross-motor play all year round and provides space for tennis and soccer lessons for our Pre-K Students.

Classrooms

Each classroom has a flexible daily schedule that allows for children to feel comfortable in their routine at school while also allowing them the time to fully immerse themselves in their learning environment.

Our teaching staff are trained to plan for and facilitate activities built off the children’s interests that support children’s physical, social-emotional, and intellectual needs.

Family Engagement

York Day is committed to providing a high-quality experience for our students, which means family engagement is a cornerstone of our program. We encourage families to be active participants in their child’s education through regular parent-teacher conferences, daily communication with teachers, attendance at family engagement events, and even volunteering to chaperone Pre-K Counts field trips! We also encourage parents to join our active Parent Teacher Committee to help plan parent engagement activities.
